CHAOS IN COAHUILA
A coalition of Porfiriatas, Renovadoras and Antirreleccionistas have attacked General “Pancho” Villa in Coahuila, leading to the downfall of that territory. It is unclear at this time who controls Coahuila. Forces belonging to President Diaz initially said they were in control of the territory, but that remained unclear once the fighting died down.
VILLA DEFENDS IN CHIHUAHUA
General “Pancho” Villa has successfully defended an attack by General Gutierrez. Two infantry units squared off against each other, with only light casualties reported.
ZAPATA ATTACKS MADERO IN JALISCO
General Emiliano Zapata has attacked General Madero in the territory of Jalisco. Madero’s Fort was able to successfully push back the light Zapatista invaders. Both sides suffered light damaged.
TAX RATES REMAIN HIGH
Speaking from the floor three months ago, newly elected Presidente Porfirio Diaz made a promise to raise taxes to 80% for “at least 10 weeks” designated for “rehabilitation of infrastructure and the support of the Federalis so that peace may be maintained.” It has now been over 3 months and the tax rate remains 80%, leaving some citizens to question when it will end.

* William Jay Gaynor, the Mayor of New York City, was seriously wounded in an assassination attempt. Mayor Gaynor was preparing to board a liner for a European vacation, when a recently fired city employee shot him.
* The Sungari agreement, between Russia and China, was signed at Beijing, with China giving up claims for free trade on the border between the two empires.
* At the Pan-American Conference held in Buenos Aires, the participating nations voted to create a Pan-American Union, to be led by the U.S. Secretary of State.
* The boundaries between the Belgian Congo, and German East Africa were established by a Belgian-German treaty.
* Florence Nightingale, an English wartime nurse considered to be the founder of professional nursing, has died. She was 90 years old.
