PORFIRO DIAZ WINS REELECTION AS PRESIDNET
Former President José de la Cruz Porfiro Díaz Mori has won releection as President of Mexico. He narrowly beat out Victoriano Huerta in last month’s poll. The final electoral total was 45 to 41.

Early returns faired very well for Huerta, with supporting votes coming from the North and northern allies. However, late returns swung uniformly to Diaz. No electoral votes came in for “Pancho” Villa. Indeed, it appears Villa threw his support behind General Huerta. The coalition for Huerta included Generals Madero, Vill and Huerta. The winning coalition of Diaz included Generals Zapata, Carranza and Gutierrez.

The Periodico Revolucionario is dispatching reporters to interview both candidates.

DIAZ TAKES QUERETARO AFTER SKIRMISH
Militiamen loyal to President Diaz skirmished with forces belonging to General Gutierrez in the territory of Queretaro. It’s unclear how or why the battle again, especially given Gutierrez’s recent support of Diaz in the presidential election, but reports from the frontlines indicate that the newly elected President has taken control of the territory. Reports also indicated the small force of 100 men or so defending Queretaro were killed. Diaz’s force was thought to be a combined arms group of around 500 men.
