Random Questions about Unit Production and Movement

Working on my turn 1 orders and a few questions popped into my head:

1) Unit production location - do we need to decide where the units will be placed when we start to build them or can we decide when they are finished?
2) If we need to decide when we start production, what happens we we lose the territory during the time of production.
3) When exactly is a unit "in play"? I assume that if I start building an Inf in Turn 1 and it takes 4 turns, it'll be in play the start of Turn 5?

Also, how far can units move? Can they only move over to an adjacent territory or can they move multiple? For example, could Zapata move units from Oaxaca to Campeche in one turn? Maybe move multiple territories in friendly areas and 1 in unfriendly territories? If it is only 1 for all territories, can you tell me if I can move units between Tlaxcala directly to Mexico State? Likewise, between Nayarit and Zacatecas? Nuevo León and Zacatecas? Coahuila and Tamaulipas? San Luis Potosí and Jalisco? Guanajuato and Zacatecas? Jalisco and Durango? Etc...

I think that is it for right now.

Re: Random Questions about Unit Production and Movement

All good questions. I talked to Russ yesterday about movement between territories that just touch in a single point, and he said that yes, movement in one turn is possible, just be sure to zoom in and verify they indeed touch at a single point. That'd mean that yes, movement between Tlaxcala and Mexico in one turn is possible.

A request to the GMs: as we work through this and answer rule questions, can those updates make it to the main part of the the conquest pages? It'd make it easier to have them all in one place instead of having to hunt down the particular reply that had that rule in it.

Decide BEFORE.

2) If we need to decide when we start production, what happens we we lose the territory during the time of production.

This iteration we're going to say you lose the units if you lose control of the territory. The opponent doesn't gain them, they disappear. Remember that with units having upwards of 10HP and only doing an average of 2.5(+1ish) damage, and if you've got well placed forts, it's fairly tough to lose a territory. Simply being under attack doesn't mean you lose them, check the flow charts for territory ownership.

3) When exactly is a unit "in play"? I assume that if I start building an Inf in Turn 1 and it takes 4 turns, it'll be in play the start of Turn 5?

Turn 5 you'll be able to give the unit orders like move, attack, or it will be able to defend for you.

The GMs have a meeting tonight at maybe 9 Pacific and we plan on making the manual updates with stuff we're answering here. We've already made some...also might be a good time to ask us some questions if you're around, we'll be Skyping it up.

Is this the only response on this? I assume by reading this, then movement is restricted to adjacent territories only, regardless of size. Just want a GM confirmation.
